Strength

Strength is an important property in composite materials. Glassfiber UD is stronger than steel, while carbon fiber is stronger still. Further the strength can be tailored within the material to carry the actual loads on the structure.

Stiffness

Stiffness is a key property of using carbon fibre composites. Typically carbon fibers are used in such applications as light weight structures, machine parts and measuring tools. Several different stiffness grades of carbon are available.

Fire Resistance

Fire resistance can be built into the material. Different demands in electrical machines can be fulfilled, or more stringent demands for building and transportation industry.

Electrial Insulation/Conduction

Glassfiber is an excellent electrical insulator, while carbon and special fibers are good semiconductors. This means the full range of products from insulating to conducting can be made. Electric insulation properties are particularly used in tools for work on electric lines, as well as gardening tools.

Corrosion Resistance

Excellent corrosion resistance make it possible to use composites in environments that are wet and corrosive. Machine parts and dockside structures from composites are easily more cost effective than metal counterparts.
